Event Description

Lecture by Glenn Mullin
In 2004 author Glenn Mullin led 21 friends on an expedition and vision quest to Tibet’s legendary Lhamo Lhatso, or Oracle Lake. Five photographers traveled with the group and renowned filmmaker Michael Wiese made an acclaimed film about the adventure, narrated by Atlanta jazzman Steve Danz. The movie was released in 2007 and the book in October 2011. Glenn will show highlights of the film and discuss the role of vision quest and sacred power places in the world of the Dalai Lamas.

Glenn Mullin is the author of more than two dozen books on Central Asian culture. Over the years he has curated five exhibitions for OUMA, including “The Mystical Arts of Tibet, featuring personal sacred objects of the Dalai Lamas,” which OUMA sponsored in honor of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.

General Admission: $5, free for Oglethorpe University Museum of Art members and with a Petrel Pass
